Third Time’s the Charm

We relaunched our site today using Wordpress and couldn’t be more ecstatic. We’ve tried on a couple other blogging platforms over the last two years but none seemed to bring the wonderment and awe we’ve experienced with the features and myriad plug-ins available for Wordpress.

Our goal was simple: improve the organization of information. We love the Related Posts plug-in for this very reason. Also, notice the search box at the top of each page. For the traditionalists* out there, we retained our article categories.

Metadata associated with posts is also important, since we get the majority of our traffic from Google through organic searches. We are digging the Headspace plug-in, for it makes it super easy to tag your posts and optimize article metadata for search engines. It has a clever integration with Yahoo’s suggested keywords service - your post is scanned and a list of suggestions appears - see the demo video on the Headspace site.

We also dropped in a new, simpler, cleaner design, courtesy of Xiaoka. We only required a few hours of time to tweak the stylesheet to heart’s content.

*And now for the asterisk. Last year, a brilliant video circulated the Web which aptly demonstrated how digital information is discovered. In case you have not seen Dr. Michael Wesch’s “Information R/evolution,” here it is:
