		<description>What surprised me most is that observers and initializers aren’t loaded – and there’s no warning of this.

I’d prefer if it behaved as you’ve done – aborting when gem is missing.

I hit this because I was doing a small bit of dev on a windows box – and I didn’t bother manually installing gems with binary dependencies. But I had to dig into rails to find out why my app was breaking.

Now I’m aware of this it’s not a problem.
